Default butter recipe golden has changed!

Has anybody noticed the change in this mix? I've used this mix for years and my cakes were always moist and delicious. NOT any more!! My mom says the same thing, something has changed! Please change the mix back. Somebody let me know if this can be fixed.

Default Duncan Hines Butter Recipe has changed

I have been using this mix for 24 years and it did change. I wrote Duncan Hines and no response. The other bakers in my area have said the same thing. Some say the Yellow has changed also. From what I gather, I believe that an ingredient switch was made (hopefully by mistake) between the Yellow and Golden Butter recipe. When I bake the Butter Recipe it usually has a tacky moist top, but now it is as dry as cardboard. My baking friends have said they have had the same problem. The Yellow mix is baking like the Butter Recipe used to, so there had to be an ingredient mix up somewhere in the process. The Yellow mix is baking as the Butter Recipe should. (with the tacky moist top)

Default Butter Recipe Golden has changed

Another note: Don't tell me to check my oven because I have 3 types of ovens and they are baking the same way in all of them. I have two electric, two gas and one commercial oven with four baking racks. Same results in all three. Something has changed and I hope Duncan Hines will remedy this. I have 18 cases of Butter Recipe Golden and I noticed the change when they updated their packaging. Change is back please, wedding season is starting.

I haven't used these two mixes from DH. but have you compared the fat and oil content from both boxes? Did they take out some fats or oils or calories, maybe? If you put in maybe pudding, would it help the dryness? Sorry, I can't be of more help. Some products are changing their fat content due to new govt. regulations or from listening to consumers.

good luck nesacake! DH is a very very good product, and they definitely will listen to consumers especially if more than one asks for a reason to the change.

If you get a moment, share with us your photos of a cake you have made?
I would love to see it! Welcome to the forum!

Default Duncan Hines Butter Recipe has changed

I spoke with a rep at Duncan Hines, but he said they have not changed their recipe. Maybe they haven't, but a supplier of an ingredient could be the problem. I am going to search a few stores in my area to find some of the old packages and see if there is a difference. If it is, I will personally mail them to Duncan Hines and tell them they have to do a little more research to satisfy me. Make they did and "old coke new coke" switch to see if we would notice. Hopefully they will quietly change it back. My business depends on it.

Can I send pictures on this forum? I have lots of them.

Unhappy Change it back!!! Please

I have used Butter Golden Recipe for over 15 years and had wonderful success~ However, the recipe has changed - at least the water and amount of butter, and the cake is NOT the same! The taste is not as good nor the texture...even the smell has changed. Please consider changing it back to the original recipe or I will have to find another cake mix to use...hopefully, you will consider the many requests I've seen to correct this...we really miss our old recipe! Thanks
