Used to spend my allowance at the local confectionery on the way home from school, getting candy. In High School, it was clothes.

I bought a separate phone line for my bedroom, paid for the install and everything.
My parents thought if you want your own phone, then your pay check can pay for it.... so I did and it worked out great.
with so many siblings and only one other phone.... why not?
