I agree about the decadent carrot cake mix, it really is good & very simple, easier than making my own. I still use a homemade cream cheese frosting though.

I did find one thing about pan size though. It does mention that it might not get as high, as it is a dense cake...so I pulled out my mother's 50 year old Rival made aluminum 7 inch pans & baked it in there. It turned out perfect. The 1st time I did it in my good quality 8 inch pans it turned out less high than I was hoping for. Guess moms know best!

I will try this recipe.. it got great reviews. then it must be good. now we have an option rather than keep baking something that will just be a flop or a failure.. really they gave us no choice.

I already did, stop buying DH.. Right after the challenge.. I have not bought any DH (all of them) at all for over a month now. I might buy again IF and ONLY IF they bring back what we used to buy. Why bother ?

Default Why did DH change their cake mixes?

I've used these mixes for years for stacked and 3d cakes with no problems. Now, they're waaaay too moist. I've had 2 cakes fall, and one stuck to the cake board this weekend, alone, because of moisture problems. Now, they're just as awful as the other national brands. The whole reason I used DH was because it held up better. Guess it's time to get out grandma's recipe books and start baking from scratch. Very disappointed!
