The kissis were a better option for sure than a glaze Right????????????
they dont only look delicious but they look so cute placed in the center of the table, that's what (everyone) is looking foward to,when they come over ..................
It's the chocolate candy in the center that will surprise you. You can also hide other treats inside these Brownie Gems too, such as peanut butter chips or cherries. All it takes is Double Fudge Brownie Mix and a little bit of creativity.
- 1 pkg Duncan Hines® Double Fudge Decadent Brownie Mix
- 1/3 cup vegetable oil
- 2 large eggs
- 2 tbsp water
- 28 Hershey's® Kisses® (any variety)
- Preheat oven to 350 ºF. Spray mini-muffin pans with vegetable cooking spray.
- Combine brownie mix, oil, eggs, water and fudge packet in large bowl; stir with spoon until well blended, about 50 strokes.
- Spoon batter into each muffin cup; top with candy.
- Bake 15 to 17 minutes or until set. Cool in pans 5 minutes. Carefully loosen brownie muffins from pan. Remove to cooling racks; cool completely.

I tried this idea with my son who loves to bake and I cut the mini-size 3 musketeers, twix and chocolate m&m's to prepare for the kids in his class. This was a fun and exciting project to try with the kids...It is a very inexpensive recipe for a class of 25. I did use the miniature cupcakes for the class and uses the regular sized ones for my husband a few..They all enjoyed it and there was some extras for the teachers to have some as well. I received rave reviews on this baked good and will definitely use it again..
I would also suggest to be sure that the "gem" is placed as close to the bottom as possible and covered on with a little brownie mix. Also, I did not use the chocalate lovers on the second go around the first time it was SUPER rich and didnt want the kids bouncing off the wall too much.....

So does the "gem" get baked with the batter - or put on once batch is taken out oven? Seems like the hershey kisses would melt?

It goes on before you bake, it melts but as long as you don't touch it it keeps its shape and hardens back to normal as it cools! A friend always does small Reese's cups and pushes them down as well...Xtra good!

I made these and the kisses melted.. what am I doing wrong?

The kisses melted because chocolate melts in heat for too long! I think the picture shown is inaccurate. It looks like they added the kisses immediately after the brownies finished baking so they only melted a little at the bottom. I think the center is supposed to be the kiss so it won't actually look like a kiss when you bite into it. Hope that helps!
