I baked this cake today I used applesauce instead of the oil and dressed the cake with confectioners sugar mixed with some chopped pecans. Great cake thank you very much for the recipe!

I substituted Jell-o's Strawberry Cre'me instant pudding for vanilla, added freeze dried strawberries with 1/4 c. extra fluid, (water flavored liquor or?) for hydration, cooled and frosted with cream cheese frosting for an extra strawberry kick! The cream cheese frosting adds interest without too much sweetness. You could also eliminate frosting and top with fresh strawberries and real whipping cream.

For Feb, 14. I used this recipe for an 8in. heart shaped cake. I folded in the chips and bakes as said. after allowing it to cool i cut the crowns off and filled the center of the cake with a thin layer of chocolate butter cream and a touch of white chocolate ganache. After finishing, I iced the cake using steak knives to get the wave impression, red gel drizzled on the edge and chocolate molding clay heart in the center. It was a work of art and this recipe I plan to make many times over.
