Chocolate Chip Pecan Bars

A cake mix to make Chocolate Chip Pecan Bars? You bet! With Duncan Hines Classic Yellow Cake Mix chock full of chocolate chips and pecans, you can also create an extra-special effect with a chocolate sauce drizzle.

Cookie Bars:

Drizzle:

  • 1/2 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 2 tsp shortening
  1. Preheat oven to 375°F. Grease and flour 13 x 9-inch pan.
  2. For cookie bars, combine cake mix, melted butter, brown sugar, water, eggs, 1 1/2 cups chocolate chips and pecans in large bowl. Mix with spoon until thoroughly blended. Spread in pan.
  3. Bake at 375°F for 20 to 25 minutes or until light golden brown. Cool completely.
  4. For drizzle, combine 1/2 cup chocolate chips and shortening in small microwave-safe bowl. Microwave on high power for 30 seconds; stir. Repeat until chocolate is melted. Drizzle over cooled bars. Allow chocolate to set before cutting into bars.

I was going to make this recipe, but did not have the right cake mix.....so I used a triple chocolate cake mix and peanut butter chips. Fabulous!!!!!

Used a Halloween Fudge Swirl mix on sale @ Wal-Mart for 25cents & added leftover chopped Heath Bars. A great deal & tasty too!

I made a double batch of these for my church, there wasn't even a crumb left on the tray :). I do have one suggestion for making double batches I used a half sheet 1" pan, the next time I'll use my 12" x 18" x 2" pan since the batch I made over flowed although the overwhelming response from everyone made them worth the mess I made in my oven. Very easy to make!
