One would really have to read the recipe all the way before starting, because looking at the ingridients it will throw you off. The streusel calls for 1 pkg of cake mix, but you only use 2 tlbsps!

The 2nd step says to use the remaining cake mix.

Something went horribly wrong. It tasted okay, but a little rubbery texture. I could not find a 3.4 oz pkg vanilla instant pudding. I think this may be incorrect. The packages were either 1 oz. or 1.5 oz..

Tried this following recipe as written and baked in 2 medium loaf pans at 350 deg. for approx 50 min and tested with toothpick in center and it worked our perfect. The cake was excellent but didn't care much to the struessel topping so will try again with a different topping.

This is a favorite at my church's semi-annual crafts fair. It sells on the first day. I use 8x8 loaf pans. This year I may try min loaves.

Am I missing something. I see no indication as to what size loaf pans to use. It only mentions how many muffins it makes.

You're right....no size for the loaf pans, but the baking time is definitely not for muffins. I am going to try 2 medium loaf pans and use the standard toothpick in center method to test for doneness. 50-60 minutes in oven is about the same time other breads that I bake so should be ok. But it would be good if Duncan Hines would add this info to recipe.

Wow! I just made this but i changed a few things and it was delicious! I thinned the batter by adding a scant 1/4 C. OJ and added the zest of 1 orange and baked it in a bunt cake pan. I added the topping and baked at 350 for 40 min. I used cream cheese frosting thinned with OJ, but put it on while the cake was still warm ( we could not wait for it to cool). I have found a new favorite! Thanks Duncan Hines

I too changed it. I deleted the sour cream added 1 cup of OJ. Poured half the batter in the Bundt pan and then a small cheese cake batter onto that the rest of the cake batter. i baked it for 50 minutes but MUST cool it at least an hour before remov8ing or it tears. Glaze was a can of nuked cream cheese frosting. Yummy

One of my co-workers has been out for 6 weeks after an emergency appendectomy and multiple complications. She is coming back to work tomorrow. She loves this bread/muffin recipe so I had to find it. It used to be on the box and I was about to panic when I couldn't find the mix at my usual grocery store, then found it at my back up store and it didn't have the recipe. So glad it's posted here.

This is even more delicious made with lemon cake mix! I first found this recipe in Mar-Apr Country Woman Mag of 1998. Just recently made it to take as a snack for the ladies who volunteer at the Lockport FISH Food Pantry. We enjoyed it with our coffee when we could take a break. It does smell heavenly while baking, also.

Hi Ed's wife- What a great idea to make this with the lemon cake mix! I definitely want to try that. But I was wondering if you use lemon pudding when you use the lemon cake mix, or do you stick with the original recipe completely? Thanks so much!

Take the Lemon supreme cake mix or Yellow and add 1-2 tsp of KOOL-Aid the original not any of the sugared or aspertame stuff. I got desperate on day and used those sour Likum sticks from the kids Halloween candy. Which is just Kool-aid anyway.
