Nice tasting recipe; but balls kept falling apart; not sure cooked cake is best for serving in this form.

These were a little hard to coat. They were moist so they should have accepted the crushed almonds and pecans easily. Theydid not. Anyone have any suggestions?

where do you find confectioners sugar can anyone tell me instead of nuts what can you use in this recipe cos I have friends who are allergic to nuts

Confectioner's sugar is the same thing as powdered sugar. You can find it in any grocery store. Instead of nuts you can use mini chocolate chips, plain m&m, small things like that. Hope this helps

You can find confectioners sugar in any grocery store next to the brown sugar, regular sugar, in the baking section.

You can use chocolate sprinkles or even rainbow sprinkles if you want them to be colorful

It is also called powdered sugar. A very common staple at any grocery store.

Confectioners sugar is founf in the baking goods aisle of your grocery store. It comes in boxes or plastic bags.
Try using colored sprinkles or sugars in lieu of the nuts.

i made these last year for Christmas. but i took some of the Philly pre-made cheesecake filling and spooned it onto a cookie sheet and put it in the freezer to harden. then took the cake mix and pressed it around the outside then dipped it in rum... then put all the goodies on it... i used melted chocolate, (milk and white) nuts, coconut, and powdered sugar. they were so good, i made 6 dozen and within fifteen minutes they were gone.

HI: sounds great but I am a little confused on the process. Do you put the cheese cake filling on the cookie sheet and freeze it then put the cake mix and press it on the outside edge of the cookie sheet? Seems like a lot of cake on a very small space. Also do you dip the entire cookie sheet after that into rum? Pls clarify if you can. I LOVE rum balls. Thanks and Merry Christmas.

Could not find the cake mix listed here - used dark chocolate fudge. I also had a nip of rum that I had broguht home from Bermuda and I used that - it seemed like something was missing - barely tasted the rum and didn't much car for the flavor of the cake mix - going to keep looking for the cake mix in the recipe and try again - also want to try with a yellow cake mix...

Has anyone heard about a recipe where you mix the cake with the icing and then form a ball and dip it in white chocolate? It is almost likea petit four.

They're called cake balls. You take a cooled cake, crumble it in a bowl and mix with a container of frosting and whatever other topping(s) you want. I use a 2 oz ice cream scoop to scoop these out onto waxed paper and refrigerate to firm them up. Everyone seems to love them.

I make cake balls using coffee creamer, not frosting. Freeze and then dip in chocolate. one of my favs is strawberry cake with french vanilla coffee creamer dipped in white chocolate. This rum fudge balls looks very good! you can also try www.cakecentral.com for the recipe for cake balls.
