Orange Crème frosting sandwiched between two rich chocolate cakes will surely make them shout, ‘Whoopie’!
- 1 pkg. Duncan Hines® Devil's Food Cake Mix
- 1/2 cup all-purpose flour, sifted
- 3 large eggs
- 1/2 cup vegetable oil
- 1 1/3 cups water
- 2 cans Duncan Hines® Frosting Creations™ Frosting Starter
- 2 packets Duncan Hines® Frosting Creations™ Orange Crème Flavor Mix
- Preheat oven to 350°F. Line 2 baking sheets with parchment paper.
- Mix Duncan Hines® Devil’s Food Cake Mix, flour, eggs, vegetable oil and water.
- Using a tablespoon, scoop batter onto parchment-lined baking sheets. Put no more than 6 to 8 on a sheet pan, as the batter will spread.
- Bake for 8 minutes. Let cool completely.
- Pour 1 packet of Duncan Hines® Frosting Creations™ Orange Crème Flavor Mix into 1 can of Duncan Hines® Frosting Creations™ Frosting Starter. Stir until evenly blended. Repeat with second can and packet.
- Spread 1 tablespoon of the Orange Crème frosting you just created on the flat sides of half of the whoopie pies and top with remaining pies.
Tip:
- Store your whoopie pies between layers of wax paper to prevent them from sticking together.

Planning this one for Memorial weekend. Normally it would be risky business to do a Whoopie Pie this way. Why? My husband is from Maine, and it's the real dealio all the way. But come on now, it's Duncan HInes, no worries what-so-ever! ☺

I found them at Target by the small cupcake machines and snow cone machines by the summer stuff, all flavors for I think now this is in Hawaii so stuff is more, $1.29 a piece.

This recipe was really easy, however I found the frosting to be a bit too loose for whoopie pies.. so I used almost a traditional whoopie pie filling recipe-- 2 c. shortening, 1 1/2c confectioners sugar to the two tubs of Frosting Creations.. much thicker consistency and more like a traditional whoopie. I love the orange filling.

I plan on making these for Easter, with DH Moist Supreme Lemon cake mix & Orange Creme Frosting Creations. I think they'll be wonderful! :)

I made these tonight for a church event I was catering. Oh my word!! These were flying off the plate and requests to make more were amazing! Tomorrow I will be making these again but instead of orange, we will have mocha, choc mint, raspberry and carmel. That's right, a double batch!

Love this idea! I'm pretty sure I've seen Whoopie pie pans now in the stores and this is just the excuse I need to go get one!! Love the combo of chocolate and orange!
