Ingredients Baking Instructions
  • Cake Mix (any flavor)
  • 1 can of frosting (that goes with the flavor of cake. Ex. chocolate with chocolate)
  • Plate or cookie sheet that will fit into your freezer
  • A small to medium sized microwave safe bowl for melting the chocolate

The following can be bought at any craft store:

  • Chocolate melting pieces (you can find at any craft store.
  • They come in many different colors and some different flavors.
  • Colored fondant to decorate the pops
  1. Make the cake according to directions, let it cool.
  2. Use a lollypop stick to poke holes about 3 inches apart all over the block.
  3. When it is completely cool, break the cake up into pieces and put it in a mixing bowl.
  4. Use a hand mixer to mix the cake with the frosting until you get a paste like consistency.
  5. Use your hands to make balls out of mixture and put them aside on a plate or cookie sheet that will fit inside your freezer.
  6. Melt chocolate pieces in the microwave and heat the chocolate for 30 second intervals at HALF power until it is completely melted. (If the chocolate seems too thick, then add 1 tablespoon of shortening and heat for 30 more seconds at half power.)
  7. Dip the end of a lollypop stick in the chocolate and put the stick into the cake ball.
  8. After putting all the sticks into all of the cake balls, put them into the freezer for 10 minutes to let chocolate set. This will help the stick stay inside of the cake ball.
  9. After the chocolate has cooled and hardened around the stick, dip the pops in the melted chocolate and stand them up on the Styrofoam block to dry.
  10. If you want to add sprinkles, you should add them before chocolate is dried.
