  • PAM® Baking Spray

  • 2 pkgs (15.25 oz each) Duncan Hines® Classic Devil’s Food Cake Mix

  • 2 cups water

  • 6 eggs

  • 2/3 cup vegetable oil

  • 1 container (16 oz each) Duncan Hines® Creamy Chocolate Frosting

  • 1 container (16 oz each) Duncan Hines® Creamy Vanilla Frosting

  • purple, green, black food coloring gel

  • 2 pretzel rods

  • 6 PEEPS® Brand Marshmallow Monsters

  • 6 PEEPS® Brand Marshmallow Skulls

  • 1 pkg (4.25 oz each) Mike and Ike® Brand Sour Spooky Treats

Directions

  • Step one

    Preheat oven to 350°F. Spray three 8-inch round pans with cooking spray. Blend both cake mixes, water, eggs, and oil in a large bowl with an electric mixer until moistened, about 30 seconds. Beat on medium speed 2 minutes.

  • Step two

    Divide batter evenly into pans. Bake 28 to 32 minutes, until toothpick inserted in center comes out clean. Cool in pans on wire rack 15 minutes. Remove from pans and cool completely.

  • Step three

    Use black food coloring to dye chocolate frosting black. Divide vanilla frosting into 2 bowls. Dye one bowl of frosting purple and one green. Set aside 1/4-cup chocolate frosting.

  • Step four

    Place one cooled cake layer on serving plate. Frost with about 1/2-cup chocolate frosting. Top with second cake layer, more frosting, and third cake layer. Frost top with chocolate frosting. Spread purple, green, and black frosting on the cake in horizontal lines. Use a flat spatula or blench knife to blend and smooth the colors.

  • Step five

    Spread some of the reserved chocolate frosting on pretzel rods and stick them into the top of the cake.

  • Step six

    Place 6 PEEPS® Marshmallows in a small microwave-safe bowl. Microwave 15 seconds. Stir until melted and smooth. Note: Use extreme caution when heating PEEPS® Marshmallow; they may be hot. Handle with care. Wear gloves because this gets sticky! Grab about a teaspoon of melted marshmallow and stretch it between fingers of both hands to make wispy strands and stick them to the cake and pretzel rods.

  • Step seven

    Decorate cake with Mike & Ike® candy and PEEPS® Marshmallow Skulls and Monsters.
